Meet Taylor
After years of observing, learning, practicing techniques from her grandmother, Judi Troutman, Taylor started The Legacy Salon to partner up with Troutman Beauty Affaire, to open up more American Board Certified Haircolorist services to the heart of Raleigh! When COVID hit in early 2020, Taylor became the sole owner of both corporations, to allow Judi to wind down and enjoy the life of retirement. This year marks the 10th year that Taylor graduated from Paul Mitchell Hair School Raleigh in 2014! Taylor aspires to follow in her grandmothers educating footsteps, one client at a time!

Where did your inspiration for hair come from?
When I was about 7, my grandmother brought a mannequin and a mock "salon setup" to play with, and being a hands-on learner, my brain was so fascinated with putting what I grew up observing from my mother and grandmother, into reality! Dare I saw mannequin Rachel was looking phenomenal!

We pride ourselves with over 60+ years of education, along being the ONLY Board Certified Haircolorist in Raleigh! We love sharing our knowledge with clients to help understand the lasting importance of each step we take!

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle! Each day we strive to be a little greener in all of our actions! We offer shampoo refills with our JT Hair products, and keep our plastic usage at little to none in the salon!

Our Story
GOING BACK TO OUR ROOTS
Judi Troutman devoted her life to helping people create their personal style, starting as a hair stylist in one of fashion’s defining decades – the 1970s. Throughout her career, she was passionate about combining industry best practices with cutting edge techniques. In 2013, Judi opened her own salon, Troutman Beauty Affaire, with the goal of becoming the best hair salon in Raleigh.
Her granddaughter Taylor took over the salon four years later at the age of 24, and continues her legacy to this day. Taylor honors her grandmother’s impact on her life and work with the rebranded Legacy Salon, where she serves her clients with old school customer service enhanced by a modern expression of uninhibited individualism. Taylor and her team have a cooperative approach, working together to provide the best haircuts and the best hair color services in Raleigh.
Legacy Salon is the only American Board Certified Haircolorist salon in Raleigh and only 1 of 3 salons to carry this expert knowledge and service excellence in the state of North Carolina.
