Taylor's passion for hair styling and dedication to her clients is truly remarkable. With her expertise as an American Board of Certified Haircolorist, she ensures that every client receives top-notch service and personalized care. Her artistry flows off the clock as well, from Cricket projects, to custom art pieces, her art room light is always on! Taylor's commitment to excellence shines through in every appointment, leaving her clients feeling beautiful and confident.

From styling Barbie’s nylon hair to mastering the art of human cosmetology over the years, Wendy turned her childhood dream into an art form. She believes your time in the chair should be relaxing and the best part of your day. Fueled by caffeine and creativity, she will create a look that is unique to your style. She can’t wait to meet you and start your hair journey together!
Donna
BOOTH RENTAL STLYIST
Judi Troutman's daughter and Taylor's mom, Donna is also an American Board of Certified Haircolorists completing the trifecta of three generations. When she's not behind the chair, Donna loves spending her time with her feet in the sand, enjoying the warmth of the sun, while the waves crash on the beach. When she's not in the sand, she's in the crowd of a great rock 'n roll concert with friends!

GREETER and FULL TIME GOOD BOY
With every visit to the salon, experience the one of a kind greeting by this big ball of love! He may or may not ask for a treat from the special jar... but it's safe to say he most likely will. He spends his free time hanging out with his pal Storm or "girlfriend" Mia, for being a dog he sure is a social butterfly.
Oh, and don't forget to pet him before you leave, he's a bit sensitive and will be heartbroken if you don't.

OUR STORY
GOING BACK TO OUR ROOTS
A North Carolina native, Judi Troutman has devoted her life to helping people create their personal style by entering the hair industry in one of fashion’s most iconic decades – the 1970s when she owned and operated Troutman's College of Hair Styling.
Throughout her career she has been passionate about combining industry practices with cutting edge techniques.
She has competed and won in many international hair shows as well as served as Vice Chairperson on the National Cosmetology Association of North Carolina board and being honored as Educator Of The Year several times! In 1999 she was inducted into the National Cosmetology Association Hall of Fame.
In 2003, Judi finally opened her own salon, Troutman Beauty Affaire, with the goal of becoming the best hair salon in Raleigh and in March of 2007 she earned the title of American Board of Certified Haircolorists, the first in North Carolina and the 1,151st person in the nation.

Judi's granddaughter, Taylor Downs took over the salon in 2017 after becoming the youngest American Board of Certified Haircolorists at age 23 and continues Judi's legacy to this day. Taylor honors her grandmother’s impact on her life and work with the rebranded The Legacy Salon, where she serves her clients with old school customer service enhanced by a modern expression of uninhibited individualism. Taylor and her team have a cooperative approach, working together to provide the best hair services in Raleigh.
The Legacy Salon is the only American Board Certified Haircolorist salon in Raleigh and only 1 of 3 salons to carry this expert knowledge and service excellence in the state of North Carolina.
